“Shut Up And Just Put Ketchup On It.”

A bit of wisdom from Taylor Hicks. He said it in reference to his grandmother’s cooking, but it applies to so much more. Just imagine you have your mouth set on a juicy hamburger. Been craving it all day and finally someone is kind enough to make you one. Unfortunately when you’re served that burger, you find yourself looking down at a blackened lump of meat lying on a soggy bun. But if you’re hungry enough it doesn’t matter. You dump ketchup on it and eat it anyway. Because sometimes things just don’t turn out the way we want them to. It’s how we deal with these disappointments that mark the character of a person. Do we accept them, even if it’s grudgingly, learn from them and keep stepping? Or do we allow ourselves to wallow in self-pity and anger and the resulting destructive behaviors that follow?

You know, I've been doing alot of soul searching today and have finally said the hell with it. I'll go with the flow and see where it takes me. Who knows? I might something worth the adventure.

I already do it... im 44.. where the hell did my teenage years go.. when I was thin trim and guys looked me over... (sigh)

Amen! I see other 50 plus women who look very good and wonder what happened to me. I need a box of chocolate.

Good thoughts. I think back over my life and wonder sometimes why things have turned out the way they have. I have lost so many I love way too early, my hopes and dreams have really vanished and I now hate to plan anything more than a few weeks ahead because frankly I am finding that no matter what I do it will contain problems or fall through altogether. I know this probably sounds bitter but in my mind it is just realistic.

I think the best thing to do is just take each day and do the best you can with it and never count on anything until it is a reality. On a positive note, make sure you live each day to the fullest if at all possible.

My thoughts exactly. I'm tired of trying to "catch up" with everyone else. So now it's time to take it one day at a time. It gets too difficult and frustrating if I try doing it otherwise.

I dream, and damn if I don't dream big. I guess my theory is that if I aim for the stars, I might land on the moon - which is closer than I was before.
I almost gave up a few years ago. Don't do it, guys. Believe me. Even if all you celebrate are the two-week success stories, celebrate them. I am so fortunate with the many blessings I have, not the least of which is all of you.
