:D We have 2 prior idols who recently celebrated birthdays and we want to extend our best wishes to both.
First up is Ryan Starr who celebrated her 25th birthday on November 21st. One of the top 10 on Season 1 she was known as a risk taker by choosing songs that showed her rock ability and also wearing her own fashions on the show. Ryan made it to the number 7 position of that season and many were sad to see her go especially the judges. Since her idol days, she has done modeling, appeared on numerous television shows, and launched her own swimsuit line known as "Chained". Still into music her single "My Religion" debuted at number 1 on the US Billboard Hot Digital Songs chart. She is involved in several charities and is now looking into doing a reality show to show her many struggles in the music business.
On November 30th Season 2 finalist Clay Aiken celebrated his 28th birthday. Many of you may not know this but initially on that season Clay was eliminated during round 32 and brought back as a "Wild Card" contestant for his memorable performance of "Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me'" by Elton John. I am sure many of you remember his reprisal of that song on Season 5 when he surprised Michael Sandecki who had just won his Golden Idol for best impersonation of Clay.
Clay has been quite successful since his idol days as he has released 4 cds and has performed on 8 different tours. His first cd "Measure of A Man" debuted at number 1 and his first week sales of 613,000 made him the highest selling solo artist in the prior 10 years of the music world. He also has the honor of being the highest debut of any idol with his sales.
Heavily involved in charity work has won him many awards from different sources. Currently Clay will begin performing as Sir Robin in "Monty Python's Spamalot" starting in January of 2008. There is also talk of a new cd coming in the future.
Congrats to both of these wonderful artists.
