|Taylor Hicks Biography|
Taylor Hicks is best known for winning season five of American Idol in 2006. However, although his fame shot through the roof overnight, it was a long road for Hicks to achieve this level of success. Born in 1976 (he is currently thirty-two and will turn thirty-three on October 7th), Hicks has been performing as a professional musician since he was a teenager. Between this time and hitting the pinnacle of his success by winning American Idol, Hicks not only toured throughout the Southeastern section of the United States for over ten years, but he also released two albums independently.
Hicks genres of music include pop-rock, blues and blues rock. In addition to singing, Hicks can play the guitar, harmonica and organ. Not only is he a musician, but he is also a record producer, author and songwriter. The book he wrote was Heart Full of Soul: An Inspirational Memoir About Finding Your Voice and Finding Your Way, which was a memoir of his life that was released in July of 2007.
After winning American Idol, Hicks signed with 19 Recordings Limited/Arista Records. When he released his first single, which was “Do I Make You Proud,” it debuted at the number one spot on the Billboard Hot 100 and was later certified gold. Unfortunately, at the beginning of 2008, Hicks was dropped by Arista Records. However, Hicks is not one to give up, and has continued to push forward with his career since then.
During the course of this year, he has not only released a new album through his own label, but he has been touring as a part of the musical Grease.
