Ok sense the link won't work I went looking and this is what I found.
A musicians’ union has filed a lawsuit against American Idol Productions Inc. and it’s subsidiary Tick Tock Productions. The American Federation of Musicians, AFL-CIO, says that the show has re-recording the show’s live music for reruns, violating the terms of their agreement with the show.
The orginal agreement called for the show’s musicians to be paid for re-broadcasts of American Idol. The suit alleges that beginning in 2007, the producers of Idol started cutting out the original soundtrack and re-recording the music with different musicians for “American Idol Rewind”, apparently the Union wasn’t in the loop on this.
“The union was not told by the employer that such recording was taking
place and had no knowledge of these facts during the recording process,” the
lawsuit states.
The lawsuit seeks unspecified damages, attorneys’ fees and other costs.
Come ON, they’re making money hand over fist on this nonsense. Share the wealth They can pay Paula millions to be a hot tweaked out (allegedly) mess on live television, but not pay royalties for repeats?
More importantly, who the hell watches repeats of American Idol? Isn’t the jig sort of up after everyone knows who won…
