A New Jersey man has reportedly been arrested after former "American Idol" hopeful Alexis Cohen was struck and killed by a car.
Police arrested 23-year-old Daniel Bark on Sunday evening in connection with the death of Cohen, local New Jersey newspaper Asbury Park Press reports. If convicted, the paper says Bark could face up to 15 years behind bars. He is currently being held in the Ocean County Jail in Toms River on $35,000 bail, according to APP.
Cohen, 25, was found by a driver and a passenger laying on the side of the road early Saturday morning, police officials told ET. Cohen was transported to Community Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead at 6:30 a.m.
An autopsy performed Saturday afternoon revealed injuries to the head, chest and abdominal areas that were reported to be caused by a collision with a vehicle, according to Deputy Chief Michael Mohel of the Ocean County Prosecutors Office.
Cohen auditioned for "Idol" in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in August of 2007 and the episode aired in January 2008.
