Well, American Idol has finally started and once again we get a whole slew of the good, the bad and the ugly. I have posted these same thoughts on other websites so if you have already read them, sorry but here goes:
The Good - Well Maybe
Joey Catalone - lost 204 pounds, wow and he actually sounded good
Melanie Nyema - back-up singer for our guy Taylor, need to hear more
Junot Joyner - nice tone
Jose Candelaria - sang in Italian, tone is good
Jonathan Baines - looks like the kid next door but sang good
Angela Martin - Has a child with Retts Syndrome, great voice I think
Beth Stalker - sang Bewitched, Bothered, Bewildered pretty well
Chris Watson - nice young man who sang Follow Me
Brooke White - a nanny who might do well
Last but not least of the ones we actually saw, watch out for Kristy Lee Cook who has lived in a log cabin all her life. Wrong, she is a professional who did have a contract with Arista/Nashville who is a connection to the Davis group. Sorry, she is already not on my hit parade and I would vote for any amatuer to have her be eliminated. Nothing was mentioned about her having had a prior contract. She is a country singer and sounds just okay for me.
The Bad (Definitely)
Yuka - nice man, heavy accent
James Lewis - sang a gospel song like a moose
Mark Hayes - White Christmas, hey guy the holiday is over
Nick Stano - lousy
Sybill White - no good
Z. U. - Sorry did not catch the name but talked his song
Udi - My Way was very monotone
Alyse W. - long last name who screamed her song
Teresa Anello & Brandi Park - Screamed louder
They showed 29 (I counted them) failures trying to sing the song "I Love Rock & Roll". There were others who did not make it but all were in fast snippets.
The Ugly (or weird, pathetic, sad, etc):
Temptress Browne - 16 year old girl who just could not sing and actually did it for her very heavy-set mom who was there in a wheelchair. I felt for her and was glad the judges were kind but honestly this was sad.
Alexis Cohen - She is studying to be a vet. Omg, I worry for those animals. She is a good artist though and should maybe go into that field. She sang a little like Grace Slick as she did "Somebody To Love" and took the judges no very well until she got out the doors, then all hell broke loose with her obscentities. Pretty crazy I think.
Milo Turk - Ryan seems stunned that this 39 year old man wants to sing a song for Simon entitled "No Sex Allowed". Risque and in very bad taste in my opinion. He is shown the door but happy he got to perform.
Ben Harr? - Not sure on that last name but he comes in dressed in a black cloak to hide a very gross looking body dressed in a belly dancing costume. The judges comment about the very hairy chest and he asks if he can come back if he gets it removed. To get rid of him they say yes and lo and behold he does come back and does not get the ticket as he can not sing. Simon rudely says he is a big fat lump who wanted to be on t.v.
Paul Maturano - Sings a very scary song to Paula which gets him escorted to the door by security. Yeppers I do picture him as a stalker.
Christina - Sorry again, did not catch the last name but this girl is a huge fan of Star Wars and comes dressed somewhat like Princess Leia. She tells us right away she is a goof ball and I believe her as her actions are strange. She was an okay singer I guess but when she is turned down she tells Ryan and her grandparents she is not going to stand for it. Oh yea, wonder what she is going to do about it. Good question!
Many other strange to ridiculous people were shown but only in fast scenes but honestly sure wish they would just show us the talented ones. And so we end our first round of auditions and frankly I wish it was over completely and into the Hollywood round. Oh well, we only have 5 more shows like this.
Well gang, time to call it a night so until next time, take care!
