Birmingham" - Taylor Hicks

very emotional moment for Taylor-on March 10 2007 he was at the end of a long day-and quite ill-and was coming to the close of his first headlining concert in his hometown of Birmingham-and as part of the encore he sat down on a stool totally exhausted and tried to sing this song that meant so much to him--Randy Newman's "Birmingham"-and as you can tell he is struggling to finish-not just because of the illness and exhaustion, but because it finally hits him that he has made it--he's home, headlining in his hometown, and he's famous-and his dream has come true. As part of the audience that night, I witnessed firsthand the love of the audience for the man and the man for the audience and for his home--and witnessed Taylor's heart and courage by doing the show when he should have cancelled and been in bed resting--and it was this night that forever endeared Taylor to me and made me realize that he is different from other performers and deserves my efforts and support. I can't watch the video here at work, but that blog just about made me cry. Taylor so deserves everything good that is happening to him now.

Hey I was at that concert in MN as well, At the casino right? It was the first time I seen him and we had fairly decent seats but not good enough ha,. If you know what I mean, He sure laid it out that night didn't he. Best concert I was ever at, but then I'm not much of a judge only been to one other before that ha.. I also seen him in Iowa in a couple of months later and that concert was FANTASTIC and even though I didn't think I'd ever get there it was well worth the drive.

I'm about 200 miles from Minneapolise and about 90 miles from the Iowa boarder and 65 miles from the North Dakota boarder, Great states all three of them, at least something happens there, nothing ever happens in SD. ha a..
