| Though not local, at my suggestion the filmmakers of SKIPTRACERS decided to submit to the Rome International Film Festival, and, as it turns out, the film will have its public world premiere there on Saturday, September 6. SKIPTRACERS is a raucous Southern comedy shot largely in Dothan, Alabama, the hometown of writer-director Harris Mendheim and writer-producer-actor Andy Stuckey (both of whom now live in NYC). It features a number of Atlanta actors, including Rich Muscadin, Michael H. Cole, Cynthia Evans, Angie Harrell, and myself, Daniel Burnley, as a hard-edged bail bondsman with a penchant for coaching Pee Wee football. In the process of shooting the film, I wasn't sure what the outcome and final product would be. But by all indications, it looks pretty darn good--with some really nice shooting and production values, outrageous-but-realistic characters, and a quality soundtrack that even includes American Idol winner Taylor Hicks. Some of you have heard my own description of the film as "Dukes of Hazard meet the Coen brothers at an Alabama titty bar" (pardon the language), but for a full synopsis and trailer, go to: http://skiptracersmovie.com/http://atlantafilmcommunity.org/index.php?option=com_fireboard&func=view&catid=29&id=2295&Itemid=28 | |
