It has been announced that Taylor Hicks has purchased a lot at “The Oaks” lakeside community on Lake Guntersville in Scottsboro, Alabama. But the rumor is that he has actually purchased three. This reporter recently talked with an associate of Hicks’, who wished to remain anonymous, but still enthusiastically gave me the full scoop.
While Hicks himself did not purchase all three lots, he is involved in the development plans for his lot (#219) and for two of the lots bordering his own. The informant refused to provide names, but did state that the other two lots were purchased by people associated with Hicks.
The reported plans for Hicks’ personal lot are very impressive. The main house will include a minimum of five bedrooms (each with a personal bath) for family and close friends, an enormous dining and living room area, a huge (almost cafeteria style) kitchen (he will be advertising soon for a southern chef), and most impressively; a recording studio emulating that of the late, great Ray Charles.
Hicks’ also revealed his sentimental nature and love for the arts, by planning a secluded library / reading room with a gorgeous view of the lake, to be made available for a few new friends who are budding authors. He reportedly first met these people on one of his many internet fan sites. I found this very curious…but intriguing as well. When further questioned, Hicks’ associate would only say that one was a man, who preferred to remain “behind the curtain” and the other a female, residing in Japan. Both are reported to be tremendously talented writers, whose on-line fans are anxiously waiting for them to put pen to paper.
The plans for the second lot are only surprising if you don’t know much about Hicks. The structure will be reminiscent of an intimate lounge setting. There will be a stage covering half the main floor space…enough space for as many jamming musicians who wish to play…still leaving enough room for the energetic, ever moving, dancing Mr. Hicks.
The upper floor will look much like a bunk house….similar to, but more comfortable than…say…a tour bus. This space will be open to Hicks’ many musician friends, who may have had too many red snappers to venture home after a night of frenetic jamming.
One thought being tossed around, as to who might be lucky enough to get a seat for one of these performances…goes to show how much Hicks thinks of his loyal fan base. The idea is that each of his many internet fan sites will vote for a handful of members to attend select performances. The votes will be cast for the most thoughtful, prolific, optimistic, humorous, and imaginative posters. While this seemed like a nice idea at first…I began to think about how the cat fights to get votes on these sites, might bring the world wide web to a bitter end.
The plan for the third lot is to construct a kind of musical Taylor Hicks bed and breakfast. The intent is to have a place to house additional visiting friends, fans, celebrities, and business acquaintances, who are willing to pay for an opportunity to partake of all the “The Oaks” has to offer, while doing business with or enjoying the company of Mr. Hicks.
It has been rumored that a long list of celebrities and sports figures have already requested to be put on the waiting list…without even seeing the plans for the establishment. The astonishing list includes the likes of; Jay Leno, Oprah Winfrey (and friend Gayle), Paula Dean, Laura, Jenna & Barbara Bush, Hillary & Chelsea Clinton, Pricilla & Lisa Marie Presley, Brett & Deanna Favre, Faith Hill & Tim McGraw, fellow AI contestants Bucky Covington, Ace Young, Chris Daughtry & Elliott Yamin, and members of “The Wiggles”. Again….I’m a little concerned that if there’s not room made for the fans to visit, the health and welfare of those on the schedule may be in jeopardy. The only saving grace, is that Mr. Hicks should be opening his club around the same time frame, which will give the fans a place to gather.
There will also be a room set aside for musical instruction, called “The MUSE Room”. Mr. Hicks is not yet scheduling students…as he is unsure of his schedule that far in advance (he may be touring the Far East or MAYBE EVEN ON THE WEST CAOST)…but it is rumored that Justin Timberlake and Sanjaya Malakar have asked to be first on the list.
Of course, all of these plans are subject to review of covenants and zoning restrictions, but it seems that the developers are strongly leaning toward allowing Mr. Hicks free reign…as they see the potential for “The Oaks” to become one of the top tourist attractions in the world.
