| :tsk: Okay I think everyone will know my answer and that is Chris Daughtry. I am stunned that his cd is doing as well as it is. I think every song on it basically sounds the same and the way he is being promoted at every turn you would think he was a god or something. Does he have talent, well sure he does but he can not compare to some of the true greats of rock.
Grrrrrr, just hearing his name anymore sets my blood boiling as I am so sick of hearing about him.

| This is a point of view question, so, I didn't answer it there. By this I mean, if Chris wasn't your cup of tea (and he wasn't necessarily mine, past about the 3rd song he sang), then, you might answer Chris. Same for Clay, Ruben, etc. I don't really think any of them are overrated in the eyes of their fans, and, I think all of them are overated in the eyes of their non-fans. The only idol contestants I have really enjoyed are, of course, Taylor, and then Bo, Elliott, Bucky, Kelly Clarkson. I was pulling for Jordan last year, although I didn't vote for anyone. That being said, I think you have to be really talented to make it to the top 24, much less the top 12, and so, from that point, it is really anybody's game. | |

| ;) You definitely have a point possumrider. I guess because each of the idols do have lots of fans and anyone can find fault with others. It just really bugs me how this whole music thing works with some getting overly promoted versus others getting practically no promotion.
However I do have to add it is the same with people who are not "idols". Example of this is Fergie. I liked her in the beginning but now she is also getting on my nerve as it seems like at every corner she pops up and I am definitely tired of listening to her on the music stations and radio. That song of hers "Big Girls Don't Cry" was played to death. There are enough artists in the music business to spread the wealth I think but it seems like they have just a chosen few and play their music over and over and over while they ignore other talents.

I have to agree with you. I have given up on listening to mainstream radio for the most part. I got tired of the same songs, the same artists, over and over again. I listen to talk shows or my mp3 player in the car. At home or work I listen to Pandora or New Music Radio (by the way, lots of GREAT indie artists on this one).

| I certainly agree with everyone about Chris Daughtery. I feel he is getting "too big for his britches". Two more that are getting on my last nerve lately are Kelly Clarkston and Kellie Pickler. As talented as this ladies are the focus on them is becoming unbearable. I'm with you Possumrider. I don't listen to main stream music stations anymore as they do just that. Play the same music over and over. I listen to my cds or go to my Yahoo music list and listen to that. I've got a MP3 player I'm learning how to use so that will be available too. | |

| I also do not listen to the radio much anymore either because of this constant "sameness" if you know what I mean. Most of the time I listen to my cds at home and because I do not have a cd player in my car (just a cassette) I make my own cassettes and listen to them. Have to agree with denib about the two she mentioned. I also am feeling the same way about Carrie Underwood. All of these people are wonderfully talented but it is like they are cramming down our throats constantly. The funny thing is I never tire of hearing Taylor or even Elliott Yamin but then that is because they do not play them often enough. However one of the casinos I go to does play both often which is always a joy in my book. I have yet to hear either Jordin or Blake on the radio but then as I mentioned I hardly listen to it so maybe they do play them. Oh, well, guess I will just be content with my cds and cassettes. | |

| Definately agree with you there concertcris. Can't get enough of Taylor or Elliot. But like you said, maybe it's because we don't hear much of them. However, I think I'd still enjoy Taylor even if they did play too much. | |

| :) Maybe so mae. However I know all of the idols do have fans and maybe I shouldn't judge them so harshly but I have never been the type of person who keeps quiet about what I think. Depending on the site if I disagree I usually say nothing at all. That is one reason I like this site because we can be completely honest about how we feel.

| I agree with you, Possum (btw, miss you *hugs*). Just because I am a Soul Patroller and am not terribly fond of certain others in the music industry, I have to say that I do recognize the need for fans of all kinds and enjoy people for who they are. ~tyg | |

that is impossible you know. You can never play Taylor Hicks music too much, cause there is no such thing as too much Taylor Hicks' music.
