Not So Happy Idol Update - 11/24/08

Seems three of our idols are being dropped from their contracts. I find this sad in view of the efforts so many people put into their music with the hope of keeping their fans happy.

First up is Phil Stacey who is being dropped from Lyric Records. Our Navy man did not fare well with his debut album which only sold 36,000 copies. I am especially sad for him as I loved his voice and with his wonderful family it appeared they were going to be able to live their dreams to the fullest. Now it is anyone's guess how life will be treating our sailor.

A bit of surprise as it was announced that Jordin Sparks is being dropped from 19 Management. She however for the time being remains with 19 Recordings. This seems almost nuts since Jordin just won on the AMA awards show plus a couple of her songs have been on the charts every since she won the title. Also her debut album has sold 950,000 copies. Seems like going independent might be the best way to go as most of these bigwig organizations show no real support for their artists.

Another surprise is the possible hint that Clay Aiken has been dropped by RCA. His last outing album did not fare as well as his prior releases but I am a firm believer that this guy can sing anything and make it sound good. On the website "Foxesonidol" they are suggesting that his sales have dropped due to his coming out so to speak which in my opinion is a bunch of crap. Period!

Needless to say I am wishing each and everyone of these artists continued success as I feel each has an amazing talent. As for the companies who fail to give real support to their artists I can only add this:

I am trully sorry to hear about these very talented singers. What's going on with all this dropping people from thier labels anyway? I'm shocked to hear about Jordin. Like you said CC, she just won an AMA award. I guess the "bigwigs" are sticking with the same old group and don't want to branch out with new singers. (I think of Taylor when I say that)

I hope Jordin, Clay and Phil have continued success as well.

:) Hi Denib. Just read this even though the show has been over for several days. Frankly, the way the judges pimped Brooke all along I figured she would win this. While I thought she had some wonderful dances I can not discount the fact that Lance and Lacey as well as Cody and Julianne also had some great moments. Warren only had one or two dances I thought he did well although this man is very light on his feet considering his size. I, however did notice that he was flat-footed alot as mentioned by the judges but his personality was very good which kept him in I think.

Frankly I would have loved to see Lance and Lacey win this but I could tell they did not have a chance mainly because the judges were just too critical I think about them. One last note this was a entertaining season overall.

I totally agree with you on this one CC. I was disappointed that Lance and Lacy didn't win. I liked Brooke but overall I wanted to see Lance take the trophy. Him and Warren were the two I rooted for. Lance for his tremendous energy and Warren for his ability to get out there and dance dispite his size.
