Top 24 Named - 2/16/10 - 2/17/10

:welcome1: Hello to all. What a ride as we finally know who our top 24 are. I am going to handle my re-cap differently this time around as American Idol did things a little differently for this season and I figured if they can, so can I.

I have to first say that over this two night period the main things we kept seeing was up-coming previews, drama, repeated scenes, drama, long drawn out commercial breaks, drama, happiness, drama, tension and the judges pondering over who would stay in for now and who would be out. Did I mention the drama that we saw over and over and over. Yep, I know I did. teehee

I was so frustrated watching so much of the same things we kept seeing over and over not to mention those long breaks. However of the 71 that remained, they were split up into 3 rooms which is the normal procedure for each season. I will give you the names of who was where. Keep in mind I am only naming the ones we saw the most of during Tuesday night.

Room 1:

Todrick Hall, Andrew Garcia, Tim Urban, Casey James, Tyler Grady, Katie Stevens, Jermaine Sellers, Katelyn Epperly, Lilly Scott, Michelle Delamor, Siobhan Magnus, Thad Johnson and Mike Lynche

As you all know rooms 1 and 3 made it through with room 2 going home. I was sad to see that Jermaine Purifoy was one of the ones cut in that room. Now we have 46 people left and of those here are your top 24.

The Girls:

Didi Benami, Katelyn Epperly, Janell Wheeler, Lacey Brown, Ashley Rodriguez, Crystal Bowersox, Katie Stevens, Lilly Scott, Paige Miles, Siobhan Magnus, Michelle Delamor and Haeley Vaughn.

Of these choices my top picks are: Crystal Bowersox, Katie Stevens and Lilly Scott


The Guys:

Mike Lynche, Casey James, Aaron Kelly, Lee DeWyze, Todrick Hall, Tyler Grady, Alex Lambert, Joe Munoz, Jermaine Sellers, John Park, Andrew Garcia and Tim Urban.

Of these choices my top picks are: Mike Lynche, Casey James, Andrew Garcia and possibly Aaron Kelly who did not do too well in Hollywood so I am reserving judgement on him.

To all the contestants who made it all the way through to become part of the top 24.


Some final comments before I sign off. I was so disappointed to see Angela Martin and Thad Johnson cut on the final night of Hollywood. I do think some of the choices the judges went with were all wrong. Some that fit those thoughts are Lacey Brown, Haeley Vaughn, Tim Urban, Jermaine Sellers and Alex Lambert. I say this because of the moments we saw these people sing I was not impressed at all. Of course, bear in mind this is only my opinion. I also find it ridiculous that the producers feel the need to make all of these contestants sit through hours of tension before they know what their fate is.

Now that I have had my final say on matters, I must say good night. I will be back next week with my re-caps of the girls on Tuesday and the guys on Wednesday. I am assuming Thursday will be the night we see who is ousted. So until next time, have a great week!

Just read this news on another site. Seems Angela Martin will not be eligible any longer because of her age. This sucks big time in my opinion. We saw so little of Paige Miles and the one time we did see her was during group night. She did not do that well so why pick her rather than Angela. Sorry but I am furious over this.

Another factor was the mystery involving the final contestant of the guys. We never did see Tim Urban get the good news. Evidently what happened was the last guy was going to be Chris GoLightly however he was disqualified for not revealing some past history with another contract he had. I can not for the life of me understand why Tim Urban was picked over Thad Johnson. Tim in his brief moments we saw goofed up alot while singing. Another factor even though I like this kid is Aaron Kelly forgot the words during his time on screen a couple of times. Jermaine Sellers did bad on his last solo and acts like the band was at fault if you remember that scene. So with so many mistakes from others why oh why was Thad Johnson and Jermaine Purifoy eliminated. This is totally nuts on the judges part as far as I can see.

Found out the song Tori Kelly performed was Katy Perry's "Hot N Cold". Man do I hate that song. Also forgot to mention that Tyler Grady sang "I'm Going Home" by Daughtry. Still do not know what song Andrew Garcia was shown singing or maybe I just do not recognize it.

Anyway, sorry for all the blunders and I look forward to your thoughts on this.

I was very excited about the Top 24 this season. Mainly because I chose my favorites a whole lot differently than in past seasons. Instead of choosing two or three favorites my list consisted of nine, five guys and four girls. They are:
Michael Lynche (Big Mike)
Casey James
Aaron Kelly
John Park
Andrew Garcia
Janell Wheeler
Crystal Bowersox
Lilly Scott
Haeley Vaughn
(I gotta have a winner here. LOL)

I have to agree with some of your comments CC. It broke my heart to see that Jermaine Purifoy, Angela Martin or Tori Kelly didn't make the list. I would much rather have Jermaine Purifoy in the top 24 over Alex Lambert, Joe Munoz or Tyler Grady. I don't think either one of these guys sound good at all.
I was wondering why Chris Golightly was disqualified, which confused the hell outta me. Why was he cut from the top 24 and replaced by Tim Urban? Then I read on another website he may have had some contract issues. Hmmmmm, too bad. I kinda liked him and was sorry he ended up being disqualified.
I would much rather have seen Angela Martin make it into the top 24 over Lacy Brown, Paige Miles or Michelle Delamor. ~sigh~ Be that as it may, Congradulations to the Top 12. It's going to be a wild ride, for sure.
At least most of my favorite picks made it. So now I'm looking forward to the rest of the season.

Seems Chris Golightly is really upset about not being in the top 24 and has hired an attorney to sue AI. What is really dumb about this situation is when he first auditioned he told the producers he had been in a boy band but his contract had expired the month before he tried out for the show. When they get to Hollywood, all the contestants are required to fill out an application I guess and confidential paperwork. Seems one of the questions was about having had a previous contract and he marked no which is why he has been disqualified. The producers think this was fraudulant on his part. I guess I could see that in a way.

Seems Mike Lynche was also almost disqualified as his dad was telling others that his son had made it to the top 24 and that is a no-no before the show airs. However the show decided to overlook that blunder. Still have not found out why Danelle Hayes was disqualified (she was the karaoke hostess).

Seems like AI overlooks some things with some of the contestants but doesn't with others. I just do not get it for sure.

Didn't Michael Johns have a similar situation? If I recall he was in a boy band previous to his auditioning for American Idol. IDK, I didn't pay much attention so I'm probably wrong.

BTW, how did you feel about the illimination of Mary Powers? Quite frankly, I'm glad she didn't make it into the top 24. Something about her rubbed me the wrong way.

Yes, Michael Johns did have a similiar situation however he never gave false information about it which is why he was allowed to continue on. Chris should have been honest on his paperwork.

As far as Mary Powers not making it, I was thrilled to say the least. I did not like her attitude at all plus the fact I was never that impressed with her voice. I think she would have been very distruptive with the other contestants.

I am so looking forward to seeing the top 24 perform but am hoping that they do not sing alot of the same songs we have heard before on other seasons. You would think that American Idol would get clearance for any of the songs performed on their show and not make the contestants sing the same-o songs we have heard so many times before. I am referring to songs like "Midnight Train To Georgia" as an example.
